The 2022-2026 Strategic Plan is anchored on the Eighth National Development Plan, which emphasizes increased investment in R&D and focuses on activities that respond to current and emerging technologies.
This Plan is as a result of the review of the previous Strategic Plan (2013-2017), global imperatives, national imperatives and the key issues in Zambia. The Plan has four strategic pillars, which translate into 13 Strategic Objectives that will deliver outcomes of the Institution's mandate as stipulated in the Science and Technology Act of 1997 through Statutory Instrument No. 73 of 1998. The four pillars are: Pillar 1 – Enhance Zambia’s scientific and technological capacity by conducting high-quality research in priority Science, technology and Innovation fields; Pillar 2 – Financial Stewardship; Pillar 3 – Internal Organisational Capacity; and Pillar 4 – Digital Transformation.
